About Sunit Prakash MNZM JP CITPNZ MMS
Sunit Prakash is a director‑level technology leader with over20 years’ experience in enterprise IT, ERP and digital transformation, working with blue‑chip customers across New Zealand, Asia–Pacific and India.
He was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the IT industry and the Indian community and has been recognised as a Finalist in both the NZ CIO Awards 2024 and the Wellington Airport Community Awards 2024.
A career woven through Baan, Rappit and NZ - India Corridor
Earlier in his career, Sunit ran Baan Customer Service & Support for Asia–Pacific & Japan, working directly with the teams that helped make Baan one of the world’s leading ERP vendors and an early entrant into India’s tech ecosystem.
Today, he works with Rappit - the modern low‑code and AI-enabled platform created by Jan Baan and his family to connect ERP legacy with the future - and applies that combined Baan/Rappit lineage through Sun:IT, his consulting and delivery vehicle for ERP and legacy modernisation, programme recovery and IT operating models.
Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Sunit also co-founded the New Zealand Centre for Digital Connections with India (CDC), recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours. Through CDC and the Cloud Sherpas initiative, he convenes NZ-India digital and diaspora networks; through Sun:IT, he turns that insight into practical projects for clients.
Track record & “how I work”
- Led the transformation of Asia–Pacific & Japan support operations for a Nasdaq‑listed ERP vendor to Best in Class customer satisfaction, using Lean (documented in a published case study).
- Delivered large, high‑stakes programmes where failure would have been on the front page – including the Telecom Refresh project synchronising ANZ & National Bank service models, and Elections 2020 work for Parliamentary Service.
- Developed a library of models to rapidly understand current state, co‑design future‑state options with clients, and execute pragmatically rather than theoretically.
In short: more than 20 satisfied customers, more than 20 successful projects, more than 20 years’ experience, and a track record of delivering in complex delivery models.
Superpower and credentials
Sunit’s “superpower” is helping organisations script better stories for their services - and then turning those stories into reality in a way that earns internal and external recognition.
He is a Member of IT Professionals NZ, a Chartered IT Professional (BCS), and holds ITIL, ISO 20000 and TOGAF certifications. He is familiar with frameworks including eTOM, COBIT, ISO 9000, ISO 27000, ISO 31000, SIAM and SFIA.

💡 The Sun:IT Story
The Sun:IT name is a personal story: "Sunit" (my first name) becomes "Sun", and "Prakash" (my surname) means "light" in Hindi. The colorful lightbulb in our logo represents bright ideas and illumination – bringing clarity to complex ERP modernisation and IT transformation challenges. From Baan's pioneering ERP work to today's Rappit AI-enabled platforms, Sun:IT continues to shed light on legacy modernisation pathways.
